MAC Trailer Manufacturing Selects Cincom Sales and Product Configurator Software

By Donna Hedge Burns · January 28, 2010 · Filed in Cincom Acquire, News Releases · No Comments »

Worldwide software provider Cincom Systems (http://www.cincom.com) announces that MAC Trailer Manufacturing (http://www.mactrailer.com), a leading manufacturer of aluminum and steel trailers, has chosen the Cincom Acquire™ Sales and Product Configurator (http://www.cincomacquire.com) to provide online access to quoting and configuration information to their dealer network.

A key consideration for MAC Trailer Manufacturing’s selection of Cincom Acquire Sales and Product Configurator is its ability to handle complex configurations. “Cincom has shown that they are capable of handling the depth and complexity of our products, in a straight-forward manner,” says Dennis Postiy, Vice President, Systems and Materials, MAC Trailer Manufacturing. “We compared three configurators and Cincom came out on top in all relative categories.”

MAC Trailer Manufacturing expects not only a dramatic reduction in the time and cost associated with their quote-to-order process but improved dealer relations. “Cincom’s sales and product configurator will give us better visibility into our dealer quoting activity,” says Postiy, “so we’ll be able to better help our dealers respond quickly to their clients while also giving us the ability to evaluate our dealer network’s sales success.”

MAC Trailer Manufacturing also expects significant improvements in accuracy from the order itself to the product’s production and delivery. “Cincom Acquire will prevent our dealers and sales reps from inadvertently selling a customized product that—from an engineering perspective—can’t be created,” says Postiy. “It’ll remove a lot of the back-and-forth that currently happens now between our engineers and sales teams.”

Cincom Acquire automates the effective selling of complex products and services. Integrated with Cincom® CONTROL™, Microsoft Dynamics, SAP and Salesforce.com, it enables true collaborative selling processes and provides guided selling, channel and distributor collaboration, sales and product configuration, as well as quotation and proposal management.

Cincom Acquire has helped manufacturers selling complex engineer-to-order or configure-to-order products successfully streamline their sales, design and proposal processes by delivering critical product and sales knowledge to the point of sale, while significantly reducing “quote to cash” time. Cincom has helped manufacturers reduce proposal generation time from five days to 15 minutes, decrease time to close a sale by 80 percent and cut lead times from 14 weeks to six weeks. NEWS RELEASE: Cincom Presents Webcast on Software Development in a Cost Conscious Environment

By Liz Harter · January 12, 2010 · Filed in Cincom Smalltalk, News Releases · No Comments »

CINCINNATI – January 12, 2009 – Cincom Systems recently developed a webcast featuring Gartner regarding how working with (or leveraging) dynamic languages can protect and enhance software development projects in a cost conscious environment.

In the webcast, featured speaker Thomas E. Murphy, research director at Gartner, discusses agile development practices and the economy, while Suzanne M. Fortman, Smalltalk STAR team program director at Cincom, discusses how Cincom Smalltalk allows companies to quickly develop and deploy applications which allows for faster return on investment and can help companies thrive in a tough economy and better position themselves for when the economy recovers.

Based on current economic conditions, some companies have had to cut back on resources and projects, making it necessary to do more with less or do the same with fewer people. In terms of application development this can mean that applications need to be built in a more agile way which requires greater productivity, development tool flexibility and, with tools that allow for rapid inspection and feedback from consumers.

As these agile development practices are utilized by more people, companies are looking for proven technologies that allow them to increase efficiency and effectiveness while reducing overall costs, according to Murphy.

“Companies are reassessing,” Murphy said in the webcast. “[They’re asking,] what’s my portfolio? What are the technologies I have? Which places should we cut? What are the things we can do to help drive productivity … and improve or reduce my costs that way I can in essence rough it out but not only rough it out in tough times but put myself in a better position for when the economy recovers?”

They’re looking for high-value, easy-to-learn dynamic languages that allow them to integrate a new project, while protecting their existing investments, Fortman said, something that the Smalltalk products – ObjectStudio, VisualWorks and WebVelocity – can deliver. Companies are looking to reuse their current development tools and build on successful projects while saving time and money also.  Smalltalk makes this possible.
