NEWS RELEASE: Cincom Launches ‘Transforming the Healthcare Revenue Cycle’ Web Site

New site provides latest information, case studies and trends for healthcare technology providers to solve $60 billion revenue-cycle problem.

CINCINNATI - November 18, 2009 – Cincom’s Intelligent Business Applications Group, CiBA, recently launched the new “Transforming the Healthcare Revenue Cycle” Web site (http://intelligent-guidance.cincom.com). The new educational resource Web site is primarily for healthcare technology providers looking to complement or grow their product offerings in the hospital and healthcare-system markets with Intelligent Guidance technologies.

$60 Billion Problem

The revenue cycle drastically affects the bottom line since healthcare providers lose $60 billion a year due to registration errors alone.

Cincom’s Intelligent Guidance Healthcare technology helps solve this problem by enabling patient-access and revenue-cycle managers to put a virtual expert over the shoulder of each patient-facing employee while monitoring all patient financial and other related information. It then interprets the information in relation to a healthcare provider’s processes and rules and triggers automated actions or focused guidance.

Perfecting the Healthcare Revenue Cycle

  • Increases bottom line, improves cash flow and reduces days in Accounts Receivable
  • Reduces costs and eliminates errors, duplication of effort and overlapping responsibilities
  • Increases patient and staff satisfaction

Benefits to Cincom Partners and Resellers

  • New product offering
  • New sales opportunities
  • Additional license and service revenues to existing customers

“Intelligent Guidance is changing the Healthcare Revenue Cycle technology landscape,” says Chris Woodhead, Cincom’s CiBA Director. “Our existing partners are quickly finding that this technology is giving them a unique competitive edge in the market. In our efforts to make the benefits of Intelligent Guidance available to as many organizations as possible, we wanted to bring all the information together into one single, easy-to-access place through the website.”

NEWS RELEASE: Smalltalks 2009 Keynote Speakers Announced

By Jillian Phelan · November 16, 2009 · Filed in Application Development, Cincom Smalltalk, News Releases · Comments Off

Conference Registrants More than Double Last Year’s Numbers

ARGENTINA – November 16, 2009 - The Fundacion Argentina de Smalltalk (FAST) introduces Dan Ingalls, best known for his work on the Smalltalk programming environment; Stephane Ducasse, of European Smalltalk Users Group and Pharo fame; and Alex Warth, Smalltalk researcher, as keynote speakers for Smalltalks 2009. The conference will be held November 19-21, 2009, at Facultad de Cienias Exactas y Naturales, Ciudad Universitaria.

“We’re currently at 491 registrations, which surpasses the amount for Smalltalks 2007 and is also about double the number of registrants of Smalltalks 2008; the number keeps growing too,” said Andres Valloud, software engineer, Cincom Smalltalk, and FAST member. “The conference schedule has been packed full with a variety of presentations since 2007.”

Since two decades ago, when Gustavo Rossi introduced Smalltalk to the University of La Plata, Smalltalk has evolved in Argentina as a prolific programming tool.

“To me, these conferences have been surprising throughout. We could have never expected or predicted what actually happened. A similar phenomenon has occurred with the technical level of the presentations,” added Valloud. “For the sake of illustration, in Smalltalks 2008 we saw an extremely high quality computer emulator written in Smalltalk. These types of accomplishments are not something you see everyday. While the Smalltalks conference offers an opportunity to share work and knowledge with others, it also serves as an incentive to choose higher challenges. As a result, everyone benefits.”

Here’s a look at some of the “Smalltalks” topics (the aim of the talks is to share Smalltalk developments with the community):

  • Agile Methodologies (XP, TDD, etc.)
  • Development Tools
  • Model Driven Development
  • Mobile Computing
  • Web Development
  • Meta-Modeling
  • Virtual Machines
  • New Models or Frameworks
  • New UI Frameworks
  • Embedded Systems
  • SOA and Web services
  • Experience Reports
  • Systems in Production

Check out the conference site in English or Spanish here: http://www.fast.org.ar/smalltalks2009/tutorials.

By Steve Kayser · November 10, 2009 · Filed in News Releases · Comments Off

Defense Claims ‘He’s Heartless – Proof Will Set Him Free’ and Raise Funds for Jerry’s Kids MDA Lock-up Event

An arrest warrant was issued today for Jerry Shawhan, Cincom Treasurer, on charges of “having a big heart.”

Web 2.0 FUNDRAISING SITE LAUNCHED FOR DEFENSE<

A “Free Jerry Shawhan” (http://jerryshawhan.cincom.com/) Web 2.0 fundraising website has been launched in his defense.

Falsely Accused of "Having Big Heart" Needs Your Help

ALL SERIOUSNESS ASIDE

Shawhan’s friends and colleagues reacted with shock and disbelief over the charges against him, of “having a big heart.” They’ve been coming out in droves in support (http://bit.ly/G8khq).

SUPPORTERS CLAIM HE’S ALWAYS BEEN HEARTLESS

“I’ve known Jerry for a couple decades. He’s never exhibited, once, any sign of having a heart,” commented an anonymous employee who tentatively still works for Shawhan.

Heartless... His Picture is in the Dictionary

PROOF WILL SET HIM FREE

In a bizarre Wizard of Oz, Tin Man-kind-of-twist (http://bit.ly/2UahpJ),Shawhan proclaimed, “When I was younger, I was a widely known movie star. My heartless character was well-documented. I have proof, recorded during my youth, to defend myself.

FORMER PRESIDENT WEIGHS IN

The case has garnered national attention of historical import. A former President (http://bit.ly/4mLatr) has weighed in on the case against Shawhan, though doubts of the former President’s authenticity have been raised.

RELEASES NEW “HEARTLESS” AUTOBIOGRPAHY

Shawhan and his defense team aren’t taking the charges against him lying down. His defense team released an autobiography (http://bit.ly/26yYab) to tell his side of the story.

REVEALING PHOTOGRAPHS OF SHAWHAN POSTED ONLINE

In a sad note, the media being what it is these days, some skullduggery has already occurred. Revealing photographs (http://bit.ly/3USUhK) of Shawhan have been posted online.

Proof Positive ... No Heart

HAVE YOU FIGURED IT OUT YET?

Shawhan will be arrested, transported and locked up on November 17, 2009 – for good – as part of the annual Muscular Dystrophy Association LOCK-UP fund-raising event, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Local business and community leaders agree to be “arrested.” Bailing them out helps raise vital funds for the battle against neuromuscular diseases.
